|Agile standard||A standard that is released quickly and iterated regularly to keep it up to date.|
|Free standard||A standard that is released freely with permission to adapt and extend to meet the user’s need. Typically this will be under Creative Commons license or similar.|
|Open source standard||A standard that is developed in the open, allowing anyone to contribute, review and suggest changes.|
|Open standard||A standard that is released freely to support interoperability of systems. Most frequently applied to software or data standards to allow data to be freely transferred between vendors’ tools.|
|Standard||A document developed through a consensus process that sets out requirements or best practice for a product, process or system.|
